Heya Dusty the Small!

I noticed in the Shoutbox that you're not sure what to do to boot her back up. So, if I'm not overstepping bounds, I'd like to offer a couple ideas to you.

First off, why not try a new theme as your default? Sure, keep the current default theme for members to choose from but a great way to give a new start is with a new look! Once you have the new look, you could surely drop your link in a post in the Opinions board on ProBoards Support to tweak and perfect.

I think another good place to go would be to bring the Cbox back up and running or at least remove it until you do. Since it's been like that so long, it kind feels like little maintenance is being done and you don't want that.

A great addition to any RP board is a map. If you like, I could add a map to my list and give it a try. Likely a nice base for that map would be the one seen in the movies to have been made by Hiccup. I think it would be cool for our map to be inspired by it to show more connection to the movies. Of course, this would be a bigger job than Cbox, I think.

While you are in the midst of revamping, getting an idea of the people to return and the characters they bring to the table is a great thing. You know where you could start again from those characters available.

Anyway, those are only some suggestions and I'm sure there are other ideas out there too. So long as there is fun to be had, you're not going wrong.

Thanks for starting up a thread

I've been looking at premade themes, but I've been hesitant since v6 has been announced. I'll probably find a new one soon anyway. Any updates that need to be made... we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

For the cbox, yes, you're absolutely right. I'll get right on that and have a shiny new one up and running.

A map? Excellent idea! You and I might be able to collaborate on that. I've made a few maps and I've got some resources to make a sort of Tolkien-style map that we might be able to work on.

For the characters, I'm testing the waters to see who's coming back. After a little time has passed, I'll take a count and go from there. We might have to start all over, guys!

For the pre-made themes, go for it. There is no mention yet of when it will be released. On top of that, all admins will have 18 months from the initial release to upgrade so there will be no real rush on you to convert to v6. So no worries there. We can learn it together.

Cbox: Sounds good! Which platform do you use anyway?

Map: Sure! I'd collaborate with you. I have a couple maps under my belt too and have worked in both monochrome and color maps. It's fun playing around!

I'm not really sure which platform I was using before but I'm planning on starting over with it. I'll also be looking at some themes. Last time I tried the internet crapped out.

For the map, I guess we can message each other and collaborate on that. Might be best to wait until I find a suitable theme.

I'm about to reveal the new theme. Even though it's premade I've been getting it perfect all day and I think it fits well. Got some more stuff to do with the current theme, of course.

Oh wow. It happens I guess. (Cbox) And that's one of the sites I was looking at. It's been recommended on ProBoards Support when I put the question up. Here's the link if you want to see what they've said.

A premade is a good thing. Gives you something new to look at while giving you time to fiddle with an original too.

Thanks for your feedback; please let me know if there's anything else I can change to make the theme look a little better. Once both themes are looking good, I'll start going through the members list and delete people that have been marked inactive, et cetera, et cetera... And then we'll move on to cleaning up the boards and decide where the hell the plot is going And maybe I'll finally make those emotes...

If you like I can always start taking a census or clean up some stuff. We might want to wait a tad longer just to see who comes back. So far I don't have any other suggestions. We have the nightfury plot going still. Maybe we could try playing off that, or start a new plot. People love getting involved in plots and stuff. I know we have the possibility of Drago still being out there and this mysterious white nightfury, but we haven't really gone anywhere with it. I realize people have just been starting up their own plots (which is great!) but if we are going to have a "main plot", we should probably start involving it so people can join in.

As for the plots, that depends upon whether or not the players enjoy site plots or member-driven plots. Those players who were here seemed to enjoy making their own plots with the potential of revealing more encompassing site plots - for example the attacks on Berk, the night furies, and the potential white fury.

I think it would be great if we had some sort of site plot to help new players who prefer that to latch on while leaving freedom for others to build up other member plots. Something like that might be feasible with a forum setting like this.

The site plot was the idea when I started, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting people to claim and play the canons. Especially Drago, who's kind of a big deal. If you're all in favor of keeping the night fury plot, I have no problem with it.

And welcome back Mid! I'd really like some help. I'm dealing with a lot right now so it's much appreciated.

Maybe you could have site plots introduced in tiers of a sort?

For example, the Berserker attack on Berk (it was berserkers, right) is part#1, Night Furies come in part#2 (I know you wanted us to hold back with them confronting Berk outright), Drago comes in in part#3, and then part#4 reveals Drago came in search of the albino night fury.

Not that it has to happen in that way but then you wouldn't have to worry about people claiming the canons all at once. I know another site I'm on is also having trouble getting people to claim the BIG canons for part #1 but at least the staff don't have to stress about pushing to find players for canons involved with other site plots down the line.

Hi, guys. I'm all for keeping the night fury plot I only have my two characters right now, but I'm up for making more if it can help a plot along or whatever.

Since we will be starting from SCRATCH, maybe the night fury plot should be pushed to the back burner?

If the furies, which are a favorite, are held back and kept as future potentials, Heartstrings might have a better chance of gaining more Vikings and Riders let alone some opposition.

But I guess we'll see what Dusty the Small is thinking.
