Dustin glowered after the girl as she retreated. When she reached Toothless, he pushed himself to his feet and brushed off his pants, as if that would do any good. The thing he needed to be worried about wouldn't simply brush off. His eyes slid from Kiira and Toothless to Hiccup, his probably-very-unhappy uncle and chief. He wondered if Hiccup would try to ground him to the village again, or if he'd given up on that venture by now. Trying to keep Dustin in the village only seemed to encourage him to try and escape. The higher the security, the harder he worked. The young man could have escaped from a prison given enough time.
He folded his arms and watched Hiccup, not an inch of his posture nor expression saying he was going to back down.

Hiccup sighed when Kiira and Dustin stopped their struggling against each other. Even though he sighed, he was grinning. Despite the inconvenience, the whole situation was pretty funny. But he had to act like the serious older adult, so he crossed his arms and took a few steps to stand next to Toothless' head. Kiira joined him, leaning against the fury's shoulder. The dragon himself was growling threateningly at the boy on the ground, but he meant no harm of course. Of course, he was sure that Dustin knew that, too, and that he wouldn't be even the least bit afraid of him - toothless or otherwise. After a few seconds of standing around, Hiccup grabbed Dustin by the arm and pulled him to his feet. "Okay, Dustin," he said with a sigh, "What are you doing out here?" It was funny: he almost said "Dusty" instead of "Dustin," probably because both of them were always getting into trouble. He didn't let go of his younger cousin's arm, but he waited for his reply, wondering what kind of remark it would be this time. Behind him, Toothless purred. Kiira was good with dragons. He was surprised that she hadn't found one earlier. Dustin resisted the urge to yelp when Hiccup grabbed him, opting for a grimace instead. He yanked his arm away from the chief and then glowered at him. "I'm just exploring," he said defiantly. "It's not like I flew off to uncharted islands, because I don't have a dragon." Of course, if he had a dragon, that's probably what he'd be doing. And Hiccup knew that. Which was why Dustin didn't have a dragon. "It's not like I'm going to get eaten by a wild dragon. I can handle myself."
The annoying part was that Hiccup just wasn't that much older than Dustin. He hated being treated like a child, even though he was certainly old enough to be considered an adult. One could argue that he didn't act like an adult, but in his opinion that was beside the point.
